INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE
The “Eugen Ionescu” scholarship program is financed by the Romanian Government and was established on the occasion of the 11th Francophonie Summit held in Bucharest in 2006.
Through the program, PhD students and researchers from member states or states having an observer status of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), as well as from Algeria, who study in universities that are members of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), are awarded scholarships to perform research activities in universities from Romania, members of the AUF. The duration of the mobilities is between 3 and 5 months.
The research areas and themes are diverse, research themes being proposed each year by Romanian higher education institutions.
The allocation of the scholarships takes place under the coordination of the AUF, following a national selection contest.
A number of 424 and, respectively, 263 PhD students and postdoctoral students benefited from this type of scholarship since the first promotion (2007) until 2017.
The AUF ensures effective management of the scholarship program.
